For 2006, Dodge pays homage to the muscle cars of the 60s by brings back the Charger. The Charger is available in three models: base, RT, and SRT8. The base model will be equipped with a 250 horsepower high output 3.5L V6 engine. The RT receives more power from a 5.7L HEMI V8 engine producing 340 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. If the power of the RT is not enough for you the Charger is also available in a SRT8 model with a 6.1L HEMI V8 engine that generates 425 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. All models are equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission. A Multiple Displacement System (MDS) on the HEMI engines deactivates four cylinders when full power is not need. The result is improved fuel economy by up to 20 percent.
