Mercedes-Benz redesigns the SLK-Class for 2005, offering it in two trims: SLK350 and the new SLK55 AMG. The SLK55 AMG boasts a new powertrain, consisting of a V8 engine, which produces 355 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, coupled to a seven-speed automatic transmission. Standard luxury amenities on both models include dual-zone automatic air conditioning, the TeleAid communication system, leather sport bucket seats, and aluminum alloy premium wheels. Several designo Edition packages are offered on the SLK, including Chablis, Espresso, Graphite, Silver, and Terra Cotta. Other options include a rear entertainment system, a six-disc CD changer, sport-tuned suspension, and heated front seats.
